Calabria beach properties
Calabria boasts some of Italys best-known holiday resorts along its 500-mile coastline, such as Tropea, Briatico, Diamante and Parghelia. Along with its almost year-round sunshine and cheap prices, it ensures Calabria remains hugely popular with holidaymakers.
Here are some of our best homes in Calabria from just €52,000 and all with fantastic sea-views or merely a few minutes walk from the beach:
Calabria is surrounded by two seas the Tyrhennian to the west and the Ionian to the east. The region is perched on the southernmost tip of mainland Italy and lies at the heart of the countrys Mezzogiorno (Italian for midday), so named on account of its brilliant sunshine. Yet there is much more to the region than just glorious sun, sand and sea.
As well as its beach delights, its landscape boasts a rugged beauty. Tropea , its most popular resort, is built on a series of steep cliffs. Away from the coast, its hinterland features every landscape from craggy mountains to sprawling plateaux. There are also its three national parks La Sila, Aspromonte to the south and Il Pollino to the north.
Calabria, with its laidback style of life, is arguably the most unspoilt of Italys 20 regions. This is one of the attractions that draw foreigners here. In addition there is its cost of living, far cheaper than most other parts of Italy. This can be seen in particular in its real estate prices, starting for instance at under €30,000 for a new-build apartment in a complex with swimming pool.
Calabria is served by international airports at Lamezia Terme and Reggio di Calabria.
